Amino Acid Nutrition of Fish Larvae By Julio López-Alvarado
eBook (PDF): $0.00
This research aimed at establishing the dietary requirements of some essential amino acids in diets for fish larvae. Protein is one of the major nutrients in fish diets. In order to optimise protein... More > utilization, and reduce the prices of fish feeds, it is necessary to know what are the amino acid requirements of fish. By optimising the amino acid profile of a diet, the total amount of protein in the diet may be reduced, and the diets become more cost effective. Amino acid requirements have been studied in juvenile and young fish. However, the study of amino acid requirements in fish larvae presents a number of problems: larvae must ingest the microdiets; the small size of these diets highly increases the leaching of soluble nutrients. Small larvae also need live food in their diets, and this makes more difficult to estimate the amino acid requirements in larval diets. These studies were the first attempt to establish amino acid requirements in marine fish larvae, setting up the methods for further research.< Less

Salicylic acid is a bifunctional monomer with one reaction site para to the OH group and other reaction site ortho to the OH group. If nay one of these positions in salicylic acid is occupied by a... More > substituent, such an acid will cease to be a monomer for the phenol-formaldehyde type condensation. It is for this reason that 5-amino and 5-chloro salicylic acid are not able to participate in the reaction under consideration. However if substituent is para to the COOH group, the so-substituted salicylic acid can, in participate would function as a monomer. The condensations of 4-amino salicylic acid (PAS) with formaldehyde have been reported [21]. As compared to phenol, salicylic acid would be less reactive in the phenol-formaldehyde type reaction due to deactivating effect of COOH group and also due to statistical disadvantage three reaction sites being reduced to two.< Less
