His wife was Betsy Ross, said to be the famous designed of the first American flag. The Palmer family came to Virginia in 1791 and the McHone family as early as 1708. Later, Archibald McHone served in the Revolutionary War. His grandson Millington McHone fought in the Civil War.< Less
