peel back each layer of pain. stare at the wound and heal. “Maybe, just maybe, we’ve all been people that we deep down did not feel was us. Or maybe, we’ve all been in places where... More > our hearts and spirit left us. Perhaps, we’ve all been somewhere dark searching for some light, or insight, to guide us out of the darkness. The darkness that some people might have said was not where we were supposed to be at that moment in time thus forgetting each person’s journey is not the same. I am here to say embrace the darkness, figuratively and literally, because it is necessary for growth. I am someone who has found joy in the darkness. Pitch Black looks beautiful to me because if there was no darkness there can be no light, so I embrace the dark places I find myself trapped in whether it be for seconds, or years. In the darkness, we heal thus bringing us to the light.< Less

This book presents Liberative Black Preaching (LBP) as an optimal homiletic model designed to function as a therapeutic intervention for African descent persons in the Black church context. Built... More > upon the foundation of a Black theological anthropology, this exposition addresses Black self-identity that is informed by a universal African worldview (UAW). The book argues that there is a recognizable diversity of contextuality among White and non-White persons and that it is possible to qualitatively describe generalizable contours of experience among Black people in the United States based on the particularity of the culture and the Black encounter with racism/White supremacy. The thoughts and feelings that emerge from this cultural encounter are appropriate for Africentric theological reflection. Historical evidence of the unfolding of Black thought with reference to Black religiosity and spirituality is presented as a preamble to the construction of the Liberative Black Preaching model.< Less

Aonia edizioni. The Italian(1797) is a Gothic novel written by the English author Ann Radcliffe. It is the last book Radcliffe published during her lifetime (although she did go on to write the novel... More > Gaston de Blondeville, which appeared posthumously in 1826). The Italian has a dark, mysterious and somber tone, and concerns the themes of love, devotion and persecution by the Holy Inquisition. It also deals with issues prevalent at the time of the French Revolution, such as religion, aristocracy and nationality. Radcliffe's renowned use of veiled imagery is considered to have reached its height of sophistication and complexity in The Italian; concealment and disguise are central motifs of the novel. In line with late 18th-century sensibility and its parallel fetishisation of the sublime and the sentimentally pastoral, the heightened emotional states of Radcliffe's characters are often reflected through the pathetic fallacy. The novel is noted for its extremely effective antagonist, Father Schedoni. (Wik.)< Less
