More > newly developed method of analysing three-dimensional, georeferenced, archaeological data, which is introduced in this paper. The approach of reconstructing three-dimensional objects - originally physically, today digitally, as models of the real world is not new. With the acknowledgement of GIS as not just a tool, but a science, the potential of it has gone far beyond these former uses and offers a lot more of analytical possibilities. This paper shows the long and stony road from paper-based legacy data to a volumetric, three-dimensional voxel-based model of archaeological stratigraphy in a georeferenced space. This report addresses further issues of effort and benefit of 3D models, its potentials and disadvantages.< Less
