The Layman’s Guide to COLOSSIANS By Noel Smith
eBook (PDF): $5.00
To the immature, rule-keeping can feel more "religious" than a spiritual devotion to Christ himself. That was the temptation the Colossian church was facing. Their pastor trekked one... Outward religion, is not the answer, says Paul. Christ is both supreme and sufficient; we need nothing beyond him to complete our faith. The letter provides us with one of the most compelling visions in all the New Testament of who Jesus Christ actually is, in all his majesty and glory, the image of the invisible God, existing before all things, Creator of everything, Sustainer, Head, Beginning, First-to-Be-Resurrected, the fullness of God in bodily form. The Open Heart By John Mark Guerra

This collection is really about me coming to a place of peace and letting go of the resistance I felt. I needed to see Him rightly, but that required that I first see just how open and personal He... More > desires to be with me. There really isn’t a theme or a progression with the chapters. In fact, most of them are intended to stand alone and stay with the reader for some time. There are longer reflections that have come out of Scripture study, and then there are short ones that have come out of moments of prayer and contemplation. So, if you are looking for a kind of linear thought and a-to-b-to-c writing style, you may find yourself frustrated. But if you instead read this as a kind of glimpse into my heart as I sort out my relationship with Jesus, you may then see and hear a little better. I purposefully haven’t written this like a devotional or a study–I just don’t think that’s what this is. This is more a sharing of my heart and what I have come to know of Jesus’ heart.< Less
