More > book) just prior to the Civil War. There are a lot of labor records, as well as material pricing for bridges in this collection. But the impact of marsh land, a massive lake (Mattamuskeet) and the ocean is amazing. Included in this collection are a number of old maps as well as modern (USGS) version to assist in locating these old roads and bridges. There is a moderate collection of canal records, and many references to the landings and issues with boats and navigable canals. This book contains bridge records from 1748 to 1890, although very few 18th century records. The road records are very large, spanning from 1742 to 1859. The majority of this book contains road records.< Less
