After a controversial discovery on the salt-marsh, nature-loving Jonny Stamper and his mate, Dinners, find themselves at the centre of a provincial rumour mill. Reluctantly, the two friends are swept... More > along on a wave of small-town prejudice and indignation. This gives them a ring-side seat to a no holds barred fight to halt the Acid Factory’s planned multi-million pound, state-of-the-art, ultra-modern, energy-from-waste super incinerator which is set to dominate the town’s skyline. The boys join forces with the Tank and Drum workers along with a local environmental pressure group to witness the campaign unfolding first hand. For the remaining population of the small industrial township known as Acid Town, it is difficult to work out what is real and what is fake-news, misinformation or propaganda. ACID TOWN is both heartbreakingly sad and joyously funny in its portrayal of the subtle complexities in the mind of a fifteen year old lad.< Less

The Bible is opened and revealed to us in a way never before thought possible, with the advent of the computer, which can search for matrices, and its verses may be interpreted in ways we never... More > dreamed of. Will it warn us of impending disasters, but point the way to our salvation with advice on how to avoid natural and human-made catastrophes? Can it tell us who is at risk, when, and from what, whom, why and where? If it can predict the assassination of Rabin, as Eli Rips claims it did, to the very calendar day, can we then look for clues as to who among our nations leaders might also be at risk of assassination in the very same way? Can it tell us from whom they are at risk, and where these terrorists will be likely to strike? To solve the energy crisis, can it tell us what environmentally safe production forms to use and from where they may be obtained? Can it tell us what science might have in store for us in the future? These questions and more may be answered in a book 3,000 years old, The Bible.< Less

What Is It About Wild Nature That Brings Out Our Best? Walking, or sometimes referred to as "The Wild", is a lecture by Henry David Thoreau first delivered at the Concord Lyceum on April... More > 23, 1851. Written between 1851 and 1860. Thoreau read the piece a total of ten times, more than any other of his lectures. "Walking" was first published as an essay in the Atlantic Monthly after his death in 1862. He considered it one of his seminal works, so much so, that he once wrote of the lecture, "I regard this as a sort of introduction to all that I may write hereafter." Thoreau constantly reworked and revised the piece throughout the 1850s, calling the essay Walking. "Walking" is an important cannon in the transcendental movement that would lay the foundation for his best known work, Walden. Along with Ralph Waldo Emerson's Nature, and George Perkins Marsh's Man and Nature, it has become one of the most important essays in the environmental movement. Get Your Copy Now.< Less
THE TIMES THEY ARE A-ENDING but then again maybe not By appleton schneider

My challenge to the Millenarians (evangelical "end-times-coming-ers") to look at proof, not prophecy. Plagues and pestilences, even wars and massacres, have decreased. Hardly signs of the... More > (Biblical) end times. Volcanoes and tsunamis there have always been. So much that seems worse now is only due to the instantaneous worldwide media coverage. A major quandry -- why would an omniscient God's creation be so flawed that He must destroy all but a fraction of a fraction of his "special creation", man? Man's free will? Were not the "menu of free-will options" created by God? Or is Satan really the superior and God only the punisher? Too much that seems the fundamentalist presentation. The only real threat to man's existence (possibly even survival) is environmental and ecological ("the sixth extinction") plus global warming. But even as causes of these phenomena the end-times-ers focus on gays, prayerless schools as the causes. I've examined the realities.< Less
