She learns the dirty little secret its leaders are hiding, and they will stop at nothing to make sure she doesn’t repeat it. To make matters worse, her worst enemy, Duke Von Chi, whom she thought she was dead, turns up in the worst possible place: inside her mind, where she can’t escape him. Subversive Champagne re-examines the 1960s cult television series, The Avengers, through a close analysis of 25 filmed episodes. The book examines how The Avengers - during the classic Emma Peel era... More > (1964-1967) - was continually shifting the boundaries of audience expectation, defying both genre classification and viewers' traditional desire for kitchen sink drama. Subversive Champagne centres on eighteen episodes from the monochrome Peel Season 4 - widely acknowledged as the artistic pinnacle of the series. It is in this era - caught between video-tape and colour film - that The Avengers was undergoing arguably its most profound stylistic and thematic transitions, from mild eccentricity to something genuinely experimental. The author extends his journey into the exhilarating but 'uneven' colour Season 5, adding chapters on seven more episodes, thus allowing us to explore the entire Emma Peel era. Entertaining froth or groundbreaking art? Rediscover the most iconic show in television history.< Less

More > sensibility fit for nothing but literary endeavour. ‘Shannow’ is an ‘experimental’ writing, in a personal landscape hung with lexical mobiles; the effect is musical rather than narrative until life intervenes - as if the time-signature had changed to nineteen-&-elevenpence-three-farthings. 'Leocan': an agitprop romp round Dublin’70s - games with guns. 'Sherca': a playtext after Sophocles: dropout revolutionary with ESP gift. 'Dugort': island family life, pottering about with ineffectual co-op commitments; excusable in Ireland, enough to get you shot in El Salvador. Acquainted With God By James Janeway
eBook (ePub): $8.99
This book by James Janeway (1636–1674) was published in 1670. Janeway is best-known for his two most popular works, “A Token for Children” and also this present work originally... More > published as, “Heaven Upon Earth: Jesus, The Best Friend in the Worst Times.” He was among the signers of the 1673 Puritan Preface to the Scottish Metrical Psalter. He suffered melancholy, but walked by faith and not by sight, and died at the age of thirty-eight of tuberculosis. The work has been retypeset, modernized and published here as “Acquainted with God,” being the chief doctrine and text of the work itself which Janeway teaches his readers. He presses his readers to be “Acquainted with God” through His Son Jesus Christ. This “acquaintance” is not a mere speculative knowledge of God, but an experimental knowledge which gives God’s people unspeakable happiness throughout eternity, and a life that’s filled with the holy love of God. Being acquainted with God means that people may have, as their friend, the Savior Jesus Christ.< Less

Weight Loss Motivation Secrets By A Smith
eBook (ePub): $9.00
I spent a decade struggling with weight loss before I got it right. I read every book I could get my hands on, tried tons of gyms and exercise programs. I knew WHAT I had to do, but not HOW to make... More > myself do it. I had a plan. But I needed MOTIVATION to follow it properly. So I had to learn the hard way - by experimentation, by measuring my good days and bad days, and recording my own progress religiously. Gradually the pieces came together - I set goals that excited me in a way that "lose weight" never did. Understanding why I was fat in the first place, and why it was a good thing! I learned to respect my body for the apex survival machine it was. Most importantly, I came to understand the emotional hold food has over us, and how we can "short circuit" cravings and weaken their hold over us. This special report contains the 10 motivation secrets that helped me to make my weight loss permanent and they will do the same for you too!< Less
