Mutuality and Reciprocity for Peaceful Objectivism By Kelly NGYAH
eBook (ePub): $5.99
Through a series of arguements on conceptions of consciousness, perceptions and inductive logic, the value of objectivism is placed side-by-side notions of reason as an absolute which sees man as a... More > heroic being with his own happiness as the moral purpose of his life and with productive achievement as his noblest activity. It further induces that man has free will—the ability to think or not to think, to use reason or not to use it, to go by facts or to go by feelings and thus survive by observing reality, identifying the nature of things, discovering causal relationships, and making the logical connections necessary to produce the things he needs in order to live. Such strict objectivist thoughts stales the comprehensive human solidarity building values which are mutuality and reciprocity which if interweaved appropriately, they’ll portray the best alternative for conflict prevention and peacebuilding prospects.< Less

The Ventures are recognized as the most popular and successful instrumental rock and roll band in the world. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2008, the 50th anniversary of... More > the band's formation by Don Wilson and Bob Bogle. This book offers my suggestions for what I consider to be an "essential albums collection" of The Ventures' music. I limited the listings to albums (LPs, EPs, and CDs) released in the United States, Japan, and the United Kingdom that would provide a reasonably complete library of the almost 1,200 different songs recorded by The Ventures during their 55 years of existence to date (1959 to 2014). If you have all of these albums, you'll have virtually the entire recorded and officially-released library of The Ventures' music. Please note that this book contains album cover art, label information, and track list for each album listed. It does not include review commentary on the albums.< Less

This work is a treatise upon the fascinating and valuable art of analyzing human character. It makes no attempt to teach, as such, the technical principles upon which this art is based. It is,... More > rather, an attempt to familiarize the reader with the most important of these by the inductive method—by means of incidents and de-scriptions from our records and from the biographies of well-known men. Some effort has been made, also, to give the reader the benefit of the authors' experience and observation in vocational counsel, employment, and salesmanship. In the preparation of this work, we have drawn copiously from our records of in-dividuals and firms. It should be borne in mind by the reader that, for obvious reasons—except in one or two cases—the details of these narratives have been so altered as to disguise the personalities and enterprises involved, the essentials being maintained true to the record.< Less

The Problems of Philosophy (Illustrated) By Bertrand Russell
eBook (ePub): $1.99
Author: In the following pages I have confined myself in the main to those problems of philosophy in regard to which I thought it possible to say something positive and constructive, since merely... More > negative criticism seemed out of place. For this reason, theory of knowledge occupies a larger space than metaphysics in the present volume, and some topics much discussed by philosophers are treated very briefly, if at all. I have derived valuable assistance from unpublished writings of G. E. Moore and J. M. Keynes: from the former, as regards the relations of sense-data to physical objects, and from the latter as regards probability and induction. I have also profited greatly by the criticisms and suggestions of Professor Gilbert Murray.< Less

The New Organon (in Latin, Novum Organum) is a historic work by Francis Bacon which lays out the system of logic which became known as the Baconian Method. Originally penned in Latin, this text... More > discusses the various methods of reasoning one may use to come to a sound conclusion. The philosophical debate on the nature of inductive and reductive thinking has seen scholars deem The New Organon to be one of the first writings to signify the Enlightenment period of human development. It would also prove notable for its questioning of antiquity: until this time, Greek thought on logic had gone largely unchallenged. Perhaps most significantly of all is this work's impact upon the eventual formulation of the scientific method. Although strictly a text of philosophy, it was the intellectual rigors described by Bacon that were to become a forebear to the intensive development of the sciences in the 17th and 18th centuries.< Less

Homotopy Type Theory (paperback) By Univalent Foundations Project
Paperback: $9.73

Homotopy type theory is a new branch of mathematics that combines aspects of several different fields in a surprising way. It is based on a recently discovered connection between homotopy theory and... More > type theory. It touches on topics as seemingly distant as the homotopy groups of spheres, the algorithms for type checking, and the definition of weak ∞-groupoids. Homotopy type theory offers a new “univalent” foundation of mathematics, in which a central role is played by Voevodsky’s univalence axiom and higher inductive types. The present book is intended as a first systematic exposition of the basics of univalent foundations, and a collection of examples of this new style of reasoning — but without requiring the reader to know or learn any formal logic, or to use any computer proof assistant. We believe that univalent foundations will eventually become a viable alternative to set theory as the “implicit foundation” for the unformalized mathematics done by most mathematicians.< Less
