The Book of Propers provides in one volume the propers for saints’ days in the Episcopal liturgical calendar, including collects, lessons, introits, graduals, alleluia verses, indication of... More > proper prefaces, and occasional additional material. In nearly every case, the alleluia verses have been taken from the writings of the saints themselves. Whenever possible, photographs of the individuals commemorated are included. If a commemorated individual wrote or translated hymns, these are also indicated. The commemorations are particularly designed for those of Anglo-Catholic convictions; “official” commemorations that are inconsistent with the Catholic faith have been removed, and many other commemorations have been added. There is also a section of “commons”. The book includes an introduction explaining why saints’ days are observed in the Church, as well as several appendices.
