Harold met his wife Mary Brainard in Hutchinson, and within a year of their marriage he had become a professor at Moorhead Normal in Moorhead, Minnesota. In 1918 they moved to Mt Pleasant, Minnesota where he bacame chairman of the Music Department at Central Normal, now known as Central Michigan University. He taught there for 30 years and was renowned for starting the state music contest.< Less
