Understanding Computers, an Overview for the Non-Geek By Robbie Tarte
Paperback: $61.31

So many computer books out there and yet I can find none that are written with people like my parents in mind. Most beginner books get technical very quickly and they lose the reader in a jumble of... More > acronyms and obscure explanations to already complicated topics. I thought a computer book for beginners should be filled with real world analogies and plenty of illustrations. I saw this as a good idea for a book and so I decided to write one. I tried to write this book in such a way that you will get a good overview of the components of a computer and how they work together. I attempt to explain everything using examples and references that everyone can understand (e.g. I explain RAM by comparing it to a chalkboard, I explain a hard drive by comparing it to a note book, etc.). To many people a computer is a mysterious magic box that lets you browse the Internet and read e-mail. I hope this book will give you insight on how this magic happens.
