"What you hold in your hand may look like a chapbook, but it is a magic object, a cabinet of curiosities disguised as a meditation on 'the terrible and wondrous laws of leave-taking.' Inside, a... More > ballet unfolds. Thumbelina drifts through a landscape of unsuitable suitors, and as secrets reveal and re-clothe themselves in shifting lights and shadows, we begin to see at work a renaissance specimen logic wherein spiders' webs, bruises on cherry blossoms, storm-battered coral reefs, and the whiskered inhabitants of ceynotes transform themselves into both marvelous new world and momento mori. This 19 poem collection confronts us with the transitory nature of shelters and hiding places, the inevitable stains on the new bed, the uncertainty of days to come." Hester L. Furey, author of little Fish< Less

More > Plath writes awesome poems. Plath should have met Dickinson. Dylan Thomas too. Shelley. Poe. Lord Byron. Artaud and Baudelaire. Who can forget Hart Crane? Versus Eliot. John Berryman and Robert Lowell, who knew they joined these ranks? And of course, Celan. Whitman, whose “right hand points to landscapes of continents, and a plain public road…. Perhaps it is everywhere on water and on land.” Together they would write great things, Plath thinks out loud, to no one in particular. She has brought her pen to paper. There is madness in the method, and sometimes a little bit or a whole lot of genius too.< Less

Albion By Steve Rudd
Paperback: $12.76
Prints in 3-5 business days
Steve Rudd was born in Hull, East Yorkshire, in 1955, completely naked, unable to walk, talk, or fend for himself. His chief poetic claim to fame is that he once served Philip Larkin in a bookshop.... More > Unfortunately for both parties at the time, he mistook the great man for Eric Morecambe. He lives in West Yorkshire with a wife, a cat, and a variable number of dogs, but not necessarily in that order. His hobbies include annoying people, lying under the table with an empty can of Special Brew (which is, in itself, a form of prayer) thinking about Abraham Lincoln’s hat, and having staring contests with the linoleum. In common with many other misguided adolescents, he began writing poetry while still at school. Fortunately for mankind, all of this early work has been lost. Albion is his third poetry collection, and, like the other two, will probably appeal most strongly to people who have a table with one leg 0.33cm shorter than the other three.< Less
