As soon as the fish hears the sound of the flute, they all rush to the surface of the river to fully enjoy the sonorous melodies emitting from the wind instrument. Once the fisherman spots a large amount of the sea creatures assembled, he would swiftly spread out his net to entrap the school of fish. He goes home smiling with a bountiful harvest for his family, friends, neighbors and for sale at the local village market. In terms of tonal organization, the flute melody and pedal accompaniment are affixed to the hexatonic scale of six pitches (drmfsl), as exemplified in some traditional African music genres.< Less
