When I was eight years old, I got my own copy of Betty Crocker’s Cookbook for Boys and Girls. In it was a recipe for Penuche icing which sounded like something that was easy to make. My mother... More > told me it would taste delicious and so I made it! And so my love of cooking blossomed! But it was my grandmother that taught me to experiment and have fun with cooking. Her name was Frankie and she made one mean spaghetti sauce with meatballs. During college, I became a vegetarian, and most of what I ate and cooked dramatically changed. This new way of eating sent me on a course to invent good tasting recipes. As the years passed, I found I had collected many “favorites” and many of the recipes contained no meat. I thought it would be fun to gather these recipes and give them to my daughter Amy when she went to college. Some friends asked for them too. And so…here they are!< Less
