Merriam Press Siegrunen Monograph 7. This is the first book to cover the story of the largely unheralded SS Regiment “Thule” in words and mostly never before published photos provide some... More > new and valuable historical insights. “Thule” began as a battalion-sized security force in Norway in 1940 and ended up as the prototype for a “rapid light infantry” deployment force, about a half-century ahead of its time. The intent in 1942 was to convey most of the “Thule” personnel either on motorcycles or in fast vehicles so that they could be sent rapidly to wherever they were most needed. Unfortunately the debilitating battles around Kharkov in early 1943 put an end to this concept; the so-called “motorcycle-rifle” regiment became a luxury that the Waffen-SS could no longer maintain. The survivors were sent elsewhere as replacements. In this book you will get a glimpse of the impressive soldiers of “Thule” in training, in barracks, transit, in the field and combat. 232 photos/ill, 2 maps.< Less

Merriam Press Siegrunen Monograph 6 (Third Edition, March 2012). New, revised and expanded edition of the 1992 publication. The story of the British volunteers of the Waffen-SS has long been treated... More > with scorn and derision by the establishment media. After all there weren’t many of them and their small unit, the British Free Corps, was somewhat comic-opera in nature. This publication at least will try and change that perception. The hard core nucleus of the BFC consisted of serious, committed individuals who deeply believed in what they were doing and stayed on until the end. Therefore they deserve to be treated with respect; they were a part, however minuscule, of the vast Pan-European Army that was the Waffen-SS. The BFC was an effort to navigate “uncharted waters." 38 photos/illustrations.< Less

The... More > Waffen-SS troops involved constituted the backbone of the defensive effort and took the severest losses. For IX SS Corps and the "Florian Geyer" and "Maria Theresia" Cavalry Divisions, Budapest was another Stalingrad. "Maria Theresia" in particular had the unfortunate distinction of being the only large formation of the Waffen-SS to be almost totally obliterated. This work details the vicious struggle from beginning to end, a struggle in which 40,000 defenders tied up almost half a million Soviet combat and support troops, buying the Germans much needed time.< Less
