He committed the worst mass murder not only in Australia, but in the history of the world. He achieved what he set out to do: surpass Thomas Hamilton's record set at Dunblane. Martin Bryant was a... More > man-child, and he hunted down and killed men, women and little children with all the cold-hearted cruelty of the killer he emulated. Predictably, Australian Prime Minister John Howard, acted in the very same way the UK leaders had: he introduced strict gun control immediately following the tragedy. Military style hardware was removed from the hands of the ordinary citizen. These regulations, and the buy-back scheme for guns right across the country were applauded by both sides of the Houses of Parliament. This is a forensic numerological criminal profile of Martin John Bryant, who was imprisoned, never to be released for his slaughter of innocents at Port Arthur Tasmania, an historic convict settlement. Bryant had chosen the site because of its cruel history. It suited, "because I heard bad things happened there."< Less

More > money. Dr. King confronts the charge of favorable bias toward his employer, or that his employer might have paid him to write a book. Prior to becoming examining physician at the railroad firm, King was a trusted family doctor with a strong reputation for ethical practice. He contrasts his record to that of litigants, many of whom coached friends or relatives to lie in court in pursuit of financial gain. Cases reported on by King were notorious at the time; examples including apparently crippled defendants who, upon gaining cash settlements, discard crutches and limb braces within weeks of receiving the money. Dr. King himself reports resisting anger and confrontation when seeing such individuals walking in public, sometimes mere streets away from the courthouse that delivered verdicts in their favor.< Less

More > hills of the Ohio frontier. The Indians upon hearing this sound knew that one of their own had just been met his end. His report covers nine years, from 1527 -... More > 1536, and his route over the bays, rivers, marshes, prairies, woodlands and along major Indian trails may have spanned 6,000 miles or more. Through his account we learn that there were important cultural centers within our modern boundaries. Though Cabeza de Vaca himself did not visit them, he would later misrepresent the pueblos in the interior as places of great wealth. Within a few years of Cabeza de Vaca's arrival in Mexico City, Spaniards such as Francisco Vásquez de Coronado and Hernando de Soto would terrorize the interior lands. The conquest would be in full motion by 1540 and many indigenous populations would seek refuge from the Conquistadores in the new Christian mission settlements, where they hoped Dios (God) would save them from slave raiders and killers.< Less
