Some of the main themes include: estrangement from pop culture and stagnant ideas, voluntary and involuntary enslavement, connections to nature, emotional longing/confusion, and why are we all not spending more time celebrating our existence. In this world filled with rapidly changing technology, the Church is scrambling to put the latest means of communication to use in evangelization efforts. All its efforts speak of something... More > unprecedented in the Church. Yet, despite the newness of the technology the Church finds the work to be familiar. As it has in the areas such as social teaching and morality, the Church has applied its millennia of expertise to each new development as they arrived. Second, it examines the Magisterial documents from roughly the last century, beginning with the founding of Vatican Radio onward, to show that the advice the Church offers for the use of communication technologies has been, at its core, unchanging and can be summarized in four tasks: the seeking of holiness, formation, participation, and dialog.< Less
