The story goes that the Sumpfigs were a German couple in a predominantly French town. They were extremely wealthy but rather unsocialable and didn’t really fit in with the rest of the townspeople. Supposedly, both of them disappeared by the swamp and were never seen again. Everyone assumed they had drowned, but no bodies were ever found. The government proceeded to sell the house and used the profits to build the library. I wasn’t sure, but if I drowned or vanished, I doubted anyone would name a library after me.
