This Clarinet Choir score presents a unique contrast in timbre to the original score for strings and continuo published back in the early 18th c. Vitus is also well known as his dance is a cure for Tarantula bites, or a condition of restless fidgeting. I gave him a capering ungainly melody which is interspersed with references to the great river Vltava. Sigismund/Adalbert reunited Prague and the Czechs at a time of great unrest, though some think he doesn't deserve either his statue or his stature! His music is grand and imposing as regal music ought to be.< Less

The orchestra has very colorful effects and optimistic mood, a character reminiscent of spring, especially the month of April, and now includes "pastoral" sounds. The "Concerto for Orchestra" by Bela Bartok was in 2009 the benchmark for revising the writing of "Abriliana". The "Prague Symphonic Orchestra" conducted by Richard Hein performed this work in a recording made on December 6, 2009 in Prague Rudolfinum Theatre, home of the Orchestra, and on numerous occasions issued by a private channel of the Spanish Television.< Less
