Marco Polo made four secret voyages to ancient America in the 13th and 14th centuries. The book is based largely on letters that Marco's daughters wrote about his New World adventures. Before he... More > died, the old man told his daughters about his secret adventures. Marco sailed with teams of Chinese, Mongol, Korean, Persian, and Syrian explorers on three voyages to America's West Coast. This was the very beginning of the Northwest Passage Legend. Marco's maps of Puget Sound and San Francisco were vital to the success of an expedition by Francis Drake in 1578. Yuan Chinese voyages set the stage for Zheng He's worldwide explorations. Chinese took home appaloosa horses from the NW coast; and Marco took back to Venice the first guns. He called the gun "a harquebus." Marco was not just a journalist, he was a highly-trained espionage agent. Authenticity of the letters has been confirmed by a raciocarbon test and assessment of imbedded clues.< Less
