YouTube Wives Or Stepping Stones is, before everything, first and foremost, a literary act. Keats’ urns and Rilke’s torsos, Bishop’s fish and Mussorgsky’s pictures at an... More > exhibition, this is the company that Smith is writing to keep as hedoggedly pursues his models. In the concrete this litany of wives appears as a series of tawdry fetishes predestined to fail–dancing girls for Degas, barmaids for Manet, pubescence for Balthus, this Korean for Orientalism, those women for Woman, these artists for ART. These poems and pieces, confessions and letters and descriptions, are essays toward bringing art to life. Smith screens them all, flexing his desire toward the idea of their beauty, even as he is frustrated by their overwhelming distance and his underwhelming isolation. Smith is a Kemp Road Warhol. And so these poems are markers of a journey, in pursuance of an absolute level, a true altitude. This is a Baudelarian night-walk for beauty. Who are these wives? Where do these stepping stones lead?< Less

WILDLINES By Ytaelena Lopez
Hardcover: $40.00
Prints in 3-5 business days
I love to push the boundaries of the perception of our own bodies and their influence in our social relations and our own emotions and fears. In my WILDLINES series I interact with my subjects to... More > make an imaginary topography of the person I see (kinda of soul cartography), using Kandinsky’s theories in "Point and Line to Plane" and a very physical, albeit elaborate drawing. For example, the Warhol ("My favorite Rogue") is mostly straight lines in angles, full of drama. It’s my way to narrate a subject full of contradictions, sometimes deep in relation to his context, sometimes shallow in his own intimacy. "The Kiss" is round forms in warm colors, that escalate their hues and curves in the place when passion reaches its peak. The image of David Bowie ("My childhood hero"), sexy and severe, done in a in a intricate triangular-line labyrinth, brings back memories of the singer as a villain dressed in tight leotard, as the king trying to subvert the basement of popular culture.< Less

Some years ago a French Art Magazine predicted that the art market would revolutionize due to the internet. On the spot I started using computer and internet in any context possible. During the first... More > years I was sincerely mocked by art people from all over the world. Time passed by. I was granted Art Awards in London, in Rome and in Montreal. Critics compared my work to Mondrian, Miró, Kandinsky, and Warhol. A French author even compared my art to the composer Johann Sebastian Bach's music. Digital art now was kind of trendy. Post Internet was a blog developed between December 2009 and September 2010 by the New York based art critic Gene McHugh, thanks to a grant of the Creative Capital | Andy Warhol Foundation Arts... More > Writers Grant Program. For almost a year, Gene McHugh kept filling this folder with his personal notes. However, Post Internet is not just a piece of beautiful criticism - it's also, in itself, a piece of Post Internet art in the shape of an art criticism blog - “criticism as performance” (Domenico Quaranta). Post Internet went offline somewhere at the end of 2015. In 2019, Rhizome restored the blog and made it available online again through the Net Art Anthology. The 1st edition of this book was used in the restoration process, that Link Editions is celebrating with this 2nd edition. Gene McHugh is a writer based in Los Angeles.< Less
