Es handelt sich um Heiteres und Ernstes in Form von Versen und Prosa sowie um Gedanken über Menschen, Tiere und die ganze Vielfalt der Natur, Gedanken, die sich nach einem langen ereignisreichen Leben so ergeben.
Geboren 1925 in Flensburg, verheiratet seit 1955.
Nach Kriegsdienst und anschließender Kriegsgefangenschaft war ich (als einziger Überlebender unserer Familie) zuerst Finanzbeamter, verbrachte dann aber den Großteil der fünfziger und die sechziger Jahre in Australien und Südafrika. Nachdem ich dann wieder in Deutschland Fuß gefasst hatte, zog es mich nach dem Arbeitsleben noch einmal hinaus.
Die neunziger Jahre haben dann aber nicht nur Ruhe in das Wanderleben, sondern mich gleichzeitig auch zurück zu den Stätten meiner Jugend nach Hamburg gebracht.< Less

Als ich 1943 während meines ersten Heimaturlaubs mit meinen Eltern im Luftschutzkeller saß und die Bomben fallen hörte, dachte ich, dass alles vorbei sei. Für meine neben mir sitzenden Eltern war es das auch. Über mich hielt aber wohl damals (und vielleicht auch noch bei vielen späteren Gelegenheiten) jemand seine schützende Hand.
Ich wanderte aus, wurde Australier, ging als Australier nach Afrika, und dann später auch wieder nach Deutschland.
Ich befinde mich jetzt im neunten Lebensjahrzehnt und dies ist ein Rückblick auf vergangene, zum Teil lange vergangene Zeiten.< Less

I am recalling the years after the Second World War, my time as a Prisoner of War and my later migration as an unskilled labourer to Australia. Especially for the younger generations I also include... More > some historical background.
I shall take you back to pre-war Germany, to prison camps in England; recall my migration to Australia and later as an Australian Accountant to South Africa, with a final return to Germany.
Coming from a Hamburg Taxation Department, I chose a radical change of life to first become a construction labourer, then a miner, and later a stockman, before I went back to town to become Office Manager and later qualified as an Accountant (A.A.S.A. and C.P.A.). I met many different people in the outback of Australia, in offices and head offices in Adelaide, Durban and in Germany and of course, socially in lodges and as friends in the many places where we (my wife and I) came to stay for a few days or perhaps years.< Less
