Vern Tuesday was determined to have someone shoot Morgan Cameron.
When Morgan came through Deadwood taking Kate Miller back to his home ranch, Vern got a woman to shoot Morgan and three men to... More > roll him into a deep mine shaft and thought that was done. But it wasn’t. Miriam Highpockets got him out of the hole.
When Morgan showed up in Abilene, Vern sent Milt Polley out in the middle of the street, with his two guns. He told Milt, “Shoot Morgan.” But Milt got shot instead.
Vern then got Les Rader to come up out of Texas. Rader was a homicidal killer. Vern said this time, “Shoot him and the woman.” Morgan shot Les Rader before he finished his supper.
Vern stopped fooling. He sent for eight Regulators from Montana, got them to climb down from a train in Muskogee, all of them armed with deadly Sharps, and they formed a line across one of the rolling hills in Oklahoma as Morgan approached.
Vern thought that would do it.
