Randolph County was formed in 1779, from the southern part of Guilford County. Guilford was formed in 1771, from part of Orange and Rowan County. It extended from Virginia line to the south end of... More > Randolph today. Therefore, old records for Randolph county land should be in either Guilford or Rowan/Orange Co. Unfortunately, Orange county deed records were destroyed (most of them) from 1752-1780. The Orange county line of 1752 is about 9-miles west of today’s Guilford/Alamance or Randolph/Chatham. Any further west, you have to go to Rowan County. Randolph has just one box of miscellaneous records, and 3-boxes of Ejectments. This is the first and oldest box of Ejectment Records. These land-records are great for genealogy or other historical research. Several plats are included, and others provided by computer generated via the author.< Less
