Sergei Sheherov (1981) is a European photographer and visual artist. As a result of growing up during the Perestroyka, in the xenophobic and violent environment of tough provincial Russia, his work focuses on the problems of the outcasts and the social minorities (both sexual and ethnic).
He is best known for his portrayal of unusual characters in ordinary situations. His art projects, which combine traditional and electronic media (paintings, video, sculpture and photography) have recently received major positive recognition both by art critics and the internet community.
Сurrently Sergei is preparing his first European exhibition (Cologne, 2012), on the subject of provocative body issues.
