This was passed on to me, to post on behalf of a reader in a Federal facility that could not access the website. Whether you are from the North or from the South, you will be captivated by Garwood and Jackson's ability to bring this story to life. In the tradition of great story tellers such as Twain and Kipling, the heroes are allowed to be men of character, even if flawed by human traits such as ego and pride, and where the heroine can be passionate without becoming wanton. Be warned, their descriptions of the horrors of war are both riveting and accurate. The descriptions of the Battle of Shiloh will make the hardest heart break when seeing the suffering endured by all who were there. While technically fiction, it is so well researched that history buffs will love it. I cannot say enough about this book other than I'm looking forward to their next one. J. Kenna

S.G.Garwood makes you feel a part of the construction, planning and crew of the Hunley. The characters are very real. An educational experience with a little romance added in. A must read for the Civil War buff and anyone interested in naval history. B.J. Underwood

In a time of great visual and audio bombardment, a book can sometimes get overlooked. But sometimes a really good story comes along to grab our attention and take us to another time, another place. A place in American history in this case. Mr. Garwood has done this with this book. This story has never been told in such a way. Sometimes history is just plane boring. With the discovery of this long lost submarine a few miles off Charleston's beach after she vanished 136 years prior, the way he brings this event to life, this story, reminded me of Pat Conway and Mark Twain. It was very captivating and fresh. It covers a story line of duty, love, and loss during a very troubling time in our history. It is a great read from cover to cover.
