This book chronicled the authors' journey from childhood confusion to adult self understanding through health and serious illnesses. It is well written and gets right to the point. This book proves that we can really only know a person to the degree that they are willing to allow us. I can't wait for the sequel. M.Royster- MBA

My first reaction was”oh.” It’s a heartfelt story; to have to face such tragedies as a young woman, or at any age for that matter! “My Reflection in the Mirror” compels one to get an understanding of self and the spirituality that lies within each of us. After reading “My Reflection…” you have to do a self examination. You must think about the fears you face and the fears that lie dormant and untouched. As I ponder about such fears, I am led to ask more questions. “Why is it, at such an early age, can one take the pressures of life and suppress them mentally and emotionally? Why is it that the human side, no matter what age; infancy, child age, youth, young adult, adults, and ripened adults alike, have the desire to belong?” Some of the very true events in this book will be inconceivable to some, while it’s a way of life for others, or at least for those people, who have experienced it (whatever the “it” may be). I see there is a light at the end of the journey. For the journey was... More > the preparation for the things to come. The answer to completeness and wholeness was there in the “Reflection in the Mirror,” but only when the spirit is revealed to us, can we truly acknowledge, accept, and move. The experienced “New Birth” serves as reminder that pain, suffering, weeping is only through the night, for joy does come in the morning! God’s mercies are new everyday and this book has helped me to know this, even at a time that I consider to be personally difficult. “The Reflection in the Mirror” is an easy ready, with complex issues. It’s a true testament to how God can work, has worked, and will continue to work in our lives! A must read! Best Wishes Sonia S. Burgin, MBA< Less

The author captured every moment from their childhood to adulthood. She showed how her faith grew as she got older and her bond increased with God. When you start reading this book you keep asking whats going to happen next? She leaves you wanting more with each chapter, you start to lose yourself in the story. You start to picture yourself as the character, wondering what you would do in that particular situation. You start imagining how you would handle the situation if it were you.

Oh, my God, this book had me on my toes, wondering whats going to happen next. I think this would be a good book for many people unaware of depression. The feeling of fear, being scared, and having low self-esteem are very known signs of depression. The woman in the story was having symptoms of depression at a very early age, but had no idea that's what it was. It took her years to really find out why she always felt the way she did. A lot of teenagers go through depression, but they don’t realize that's what it is. I think this is a good book for young and older people to read. Many of them may be going through the same thing.

If I could think of one word to describe this book it would be awesome. Reading deeper into the story I could image how the character in the story felt. Her bravery and courage through all her trials was portrayed magnificently. I couldn't began to think of how I would be able to go through these things if I were her. The woman in the story is an inspiration and a motivator to never give up. It was sad, but at the same time encouraging. Her faith and strong bond she had with her husband is something a lot of women admire and would love to have. I would love to see this book turned into a hallmark movie one day.
