This tale of a new father is simply delightful as it is filled with all the truths that is scary and wonderful for this new adventure in life. It is written with such honest hunor and heartfelt love for his child that one wishes all children could have this kind of Dad. I am waiting for the next book. I can only imagine the expanse of love, humor, and enlightenment this father will discover as he enjoys his most precious gift of children as they grow in age.

Anyone who has brought children into the world and walked out of the hospital with that thought of, "What, nobody is coming with us? What do we know about raising a child?" can relate to this book that the author so skillfully shares with us. With a mixture of fascination, love, and good humor, we get to share in the author's bewilderment and growth as he experiences all of the "first" chapters in his child's life. In some cases, I laughed out loud at the descriptions of terror this father faces when his loving wife goes off to work and leaves him to figure out those solutions that just don't seem to come naturally to the male of the species - like how to keep the baby happy during feedings with the gear with which we have to work. The author depicts stories of changings, feedings, and innocent glances from his child with humor and warmth. It brings back pleasant memories of my own childrens' younger days and the fear that set in when my wife would "run out to... More > get something". Yikes! What is apparent throughout the book is the love and joy this father has shared through his experiences and makes me think that he is lucky to have had the opportunity to share so many golden moments with his children during those years that we never get back. Good job in sharing those moments with us!< Less

You don't have to be a stay at home parent to enjoy the amusement in this short read. For the new Mom and Dad to be, you will most likely appreciate the humor which will give you insight to parenthood survival. It will bring back memories to those of you who are already a parent. I found Chapter Five -Eat, Drink, and Make Messy very comical.
