i AM SO HAPPY 2 SAY; Shellynda Fay Martin is my mother (passed in 2009) but lived -though it was cut far to short- a nice life when she was well. It is almost impossible not to cry when thinking of her yet I love and will always be proud to say I loved her and this book, hard to read without getting emotional yet true, is inspirational and a reminder to all of us. When you wake up and you are in a home with your family dowstairs but you have some neck pain from sleeping awkward, think of all the patients in general stuck in a hospital bed hooked up to a machine with many wires sitting beside you. A true wake-up call. Timeless like a diamond- we should all learn from this woman. A modern-day-saint.

"The Brave Butterfly, by Shellynda Martin" I am proud to say that Shelly is my cousin and author of this inspirational book about her journey through cancer. It is very real in its description of what cancer does to someone's body and emotions. But what makes this a story of inspiration is Shelly's determination to live her life to its fullest despite tremendous suffering. Her journey through cancer transformed her soul and her spirit. She now flies free as she lost her battle on June 12th, 2009. But her legacy of courage and faith will last for years. I cried while reading this journal, yet smiled and laughed at some of her stories. Her grace through her hard-fought battle will inspire anyone who is going through their own struggles with cancer or any other of life's challenges.
