Music That Matters is a music appreciation textbook geared towards young people (grades 6-12, ages 10-18). No prior knowledge of music is necessary and one does not need to read music to follow this course of study that begins in the medieval period and runs right up to the year of publication (2008). The text addresses everyone from Pope Gregory the Great to Vivaldi, to Beethoven, to John Corigliano.
