Simone Fontanelli
"Mi corazón escribiría una postrera carta"
“Fontanelli’s Mi Corazón… is a highly expressive, dramatic and lyrical tone-poem, depicting both the tragedy of Guernica and Picasso’s pictorial summation of the events of April 26, 1937.
The work is a personal viewpoint of the historical polarization dividing ‘the two Spains’, the Spain of culture and spirituality, at one end, confronted by the Spain of intolerance, dogma and cruelty, on the other. The recurring use of fragments from King Alfonso X’s Rosa das Rosas and Guridi’s Amorosa anchors the narrative in the domain of beauty and compassion and provides a powerful counterpart to the brutal desolation of its desperate moments. Its beautiful ending brings with it quietude and peace.” (Comments by Ricardo Iznaola)
