Woodbury AR283 Spring.09

BySiobhán Burke

Usually printed in 3 - 5 business days
This booklet represents the process and product generated by the dedicated Woodbury Second-Year Undergraduate Students in a semester that focused on Site Orders. The 15-week semester was a major departure from the First-Year Program that focused on bodies and objects in relation to space. AR283 initiates the mind-bending scale of program, context and topography calculations. Site Orders -- whether organic and naturally occurring or controlled human interventions - are analyzed in the design process to help define the space that exists at the seam of earth and sky. Architecture is not a box that lands on the ground irreverent to its surroundings. Architecture, attentive to site orders, is responsible to accessibility, is sensitive to the lack or abundance of natural resources, and blends object programs with spatial fields.
