Aug 29, 2011One of the best books I've ever read in this genre; The story is fascinating, the writing is beautiful, moving, rich and accurate. The writer weaves the delicate threads of the story with great humanity, love and respect for her families. Mrs. Smadar Rashal is a gifted writer and her book is a valuable gift for the readers, not only for adopted 'children'. Thank You for the inspiration and Good luck :) Roni
May 30, 2011My Child You Are Not My Child tells the story of Daniella, a young woman who following a mystical encounter, finds the courage to finally try and find her biological mother. In parallel to Daniella's search, the story of Leiba (the birth mother)unfolds, describing why she abandoned her child and how her life has continued since that moment. Leiba's story was, to me, the more moving of the two. Her grief and confusion seem to jump right off the page and grab you by the throat. I would recommend this book to anyone wanting to read a story about adoption, families, and people overcoming their past.
May 30, 2011This book just seemed to fall into my hands. I wasn't sure about it at first, but this moving story had me mesmerized from the beginning. I feel that I have learnt what I needed to know about adoption from this book and I truly recommend that others who are going through the adoption process, or are themselves adopted, read it.
May 30, 2011Reading this book taught me a lot about myself and touched me deeply. Both heroes Daniella and Shuli contradict and complete each other. They make the contrasting diad soul and body possible and their story unites all contradictions. I loved the first chapters.. in which Shuli experiences her predicament through her flash while Daniella through her soul...And how an out-of-this-world experience starts the way to self-salvation...I recommend this book for everyone who experienced difficulties with their mothers... It enspires in me the willingness to forgive and let live.
May 3, 2011I couldn't leave the book from the moment i started to read it .. WOW! Keep Up The Good Work, Smadar :)
