This is a book I could not put down. It has REAL experiences from teachers like me. It gives great handouts and ideas for teachers wanting to put a writing marathon together in their classroom. What I liked best about it was the honesty from the writers. I was able to take the information and use it to improve the writing marathon in my classroom.
The Southeastern Louisiana Writing Project originated the now frequently duplicated "New Orleans Writing Marathon." In this latest publication, teacher consultants with the project share some of their experiences with this unique genre. If you are a classroom teacher K-college and are considering using a writing marathon, this books is for you. If you a writer who would like to find new inspiration, this book would also be a great read. The second half of the book includes reflections on "Why We Write." The voices here are from teachers and writers who speak to how their lives are enriched by the practice of putting words on paper.
