Jan 3, 2013Fantastic! This book is EXACTLY what I needed to read as I had got to the point of frustration with my food photos. They are dull, and I have so little control over what comes out of the camera. After 20+ years (seriously!) of not understanding the whole fstop thing, and relying on auto, I think I finally have a handle on it! My auto button is OFF!!! For anyone interested in improving their food blogging photo skills, this is the book you need. From sizing files to upload to you site, to submitting to food porn sites, from the best lighting angles to using props, it's all here. HUGE thanks to the author, I was about to enrol on an expensive photography course! :) Janie @ hedgecombers.com
Dec 26, 2012I am very excited to read this book by Nancy! She is a phenomenal photographer and food stylist. Nancy's recipes and photos inspire me to try harder with my own food photography. Now with this book, I can learn more on how she captures those amazing photos.
Nov 27, 2012I’ve been following Nancy’s beautiful blog for about three years and I was thrilled when she announced that she was releasing a food photography eBook – her work is always stunning! The book is well-organized and everything is explained in a very practical, personable, and approachable manner. The book is interspersed with beautiful photos that help demonstrate the principles that Nancy discusses. I’m a food blogger and even though I have experience with food photography, I still found Nancy’s book incredibly helpful. For example, I find shooting with artificial light to be very intimidating, but Nancy’s section on it has me equipped with information and inspiration to start practicing. I would consider this book a must-have for any food photographer!
Oct 26, 2012Such a fantastic tutorial on food photography! Although I am not a complete novice I have found this book to meet the needs of any food photographer, no matter what level they are currently at. Beautifully styled and well written with an enjoyable ease to work through.
Oct 7, 2012As a relative newbie to the world of food blogging, I have never had any doubts that I could come up with goods when it came to the cooking. But what became clear very quickly was that, by using either a point & shoot camera or my smartphone, I was really struggling to make the food look appetizing. I am now investing in a DSLR (also because I want to use it for other non-food based projects) and have found myself getting bogged down in technical digital photography info that, quite frankly, was starting to make my eyes bleed. But I was lucky enough to be a subscriber to the spiceyfoodie blog, and had always been blown away by the quality of the images. I'd just assumed that it must take hours and probably render the food inedible to get shots like this. So, a blog post arrives telling me about this e-book. I think to myself, it's from a trusted source and... it's really well priced... I figured that I had nothing to lose... and I was right! I lost nothing, but gained a massive... More > amount. This book is written in a simple and engaging way that is clearly from an honest and passionate person, not a 'guru'! The technical information is clear and understandable (although, if you've never held any camera before, this might have to be your second purchase after a 'total basics' book). But I am not an experienced photographer and I have just read the entire book through to the end... and I understood what I was being told every step of the way. As someone who has worked as a writer in many varied fields, that is no mean feat... so not only are the images beautiful, the lessons are well taught, clearly explained and ultimately achievable for us all. That is clearly the mark of a real talent... and the author deserves every success with this excellent book. At 3 x the cost I would have still thought it was a bargain. Thank you for the hard work and inspiration!< Less
