On Holy Images

St. John Damascene wrote one of the most important defenses of the use of Holy Icons that remains from the early Church. He wrote it while a member of the court of Muslim rulers who were hostile to iconography. To this here is added three of his sermons on the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
