Seventy students were asked to tell their stories, and that’s exactly what they did. A simple “Tell me about yourself” activity turned into what would become one of their greatest achievements: writing and publishing their own book.
Their stories range from fearing the first day of high school to fearing their own homes. They speak volumes about their own life experiences in an effort to complete a simple writing assignment.
There’s the boy who witnessed his own father’s death, the girl who was raised in foster care, and the boy who keeps hoping that his brother and father will stay out of prison, and that’s only three entries.
At fourteen years old, these students have faced incredible challenges and adversaries, yet they continue to have hope and willingly confronted their hardships through their powerful, heart-breaking stories.
