Charismatic California Senator Jack Cortland has his eye on the White House. He counts on support from the nation's labor unions and on profits from his oil portfolio. Incumbent President Sheridan Washburn must decide whether to launch a clandestine military operation to rescue a group of international hostages in an oil-rich African country. Cantara Suhayar, a dedicated young terrorist, launches the ultimate strike against America to avenge the death of her brother at the hands of the CIA. Caught in the maelstrom of international intrigue is Pete Carpenter, the Senator's legislative analyst. He is forced to choose between loyalty to his country, to his boss, and to the young woman who shares his life. A fast-paced political thriller, zooming from Africa to Vienna to Washington and San Francisco, it is also a thought-provoking commentary on life in the turbulent post-9/11 era.

"Interesting, quick reading book..." Stephan did a very good job writing this book. It is one of two books I purchased through Lulu (the other being a book of poetry by George Smilnak). The characters were interesting and believable. The plot was creative and different. I hope he writes books in the future. By the way, I don't know Stephan, never met him and only bought this book by chance.

"Very cool cover" I like the cover on this book, Stephen! Looks very nice, very professional! Maybe throw a preview up so people can get a feel for the book before they buy it but it looks great!

"Unique Story" This was an interesting story. I am usually not much of a fan of political/military thrillers but this held my interest. I found the dialog a little heavy at times but it does resonate with a certain cohesion. I suppose if I had been in the military I might find it more reflective of everyday life. Nevertheless--a good read and plot.
