Double Woman

ByStephen J. McGlade

When Dr. Mendheart treats a new psychiatric patient, who shares his Lakota Sioux Indian ancestry, he must face the suppressed memory of an infant, sacrificed at the hands of a Satanic Cult. Dr. Mendheart had witnessed the infant's murder while on his Vision Quest, a rite of passage from his childhood to manhood. Dr. Mendheart is besieged with guilt for not saving the infant and young mother from the deadly grip of the Satanic Cult. It is the young mother, now a grown woman named Lynette Betts, who falls under the care of Dr. Mendheart. Upon treating Lynette Betts, Dr. Mendheart uncovers her multiple personalities, the truth of his Vision Quest, and the identity of the Satanic Cult leaders. With the help of his grandfather, Crooked Bow, a Lakota Sioux medicine man, Dr. Mendheart must balance his ancestral practices with proven methods of modern medicine to improve Lynette Betts' mental health and mend his heart in the process.
