Stephen Yolland is "saying things in just enough words, and no more". READ ME is an excellent value, hearty volume - and it is the perfect introduction to modern poetry from a leading raconteur and communicator. There's something for everyone here: sometimes laugh-out-loud funny, sometimes heart-rendingly sad, and always thought-provoking. Drawing on a lifetime's experience, this renowned Australian writer proves that modern poetry can be enjoyable and easy to read. Share of profits goes to various charities including Alzheimer's research and the Bali Children's Foundation.

I purchased a copy for myself, and a few for friends, and they all loved the book. It makes a great gift, especially for people who might not ever think of reading poetry, let alone buying a whole collection. Stephen Yolland's poems really are so meaningful, and yet they are written in a really easy-to-read manner, which the author says is very deliberate, as he wants to popularise poetry reading again. And the story, about his mother's death, is heart-rendingly beautiful. He took 20 years, he says, to write this book. I hope the next one doesn't take as long! I warmly recommend you do exactly what the book's name says - read it!
