I recommend this book for any writer struggling to get their short stories published. It is direct and to the point and not full of theoretical fluff. I appreciated the examples of cover letters and organizational advice. Excellent book overall.

Steve Carr’s, “Getting Your Short Stories Published: A Guidebook”, is an excellent primer for anyone contemplating having their work published. It is a thoughtful guide of not only his own method for story acceptance (260 stories published in two-and-half years), but it gives insight from professionals about what a successful submission consists of. This is not a guide telling the reader how to write a successful story, just how to take it to the next level if you chose to become a professional writer. Though Carr does state that this book speaks specially to the area of short stories, the information and advice gleaned here may be carried on to other areas of submission procedure, such as for non-fiction and novels. This book is one you will want to keep it as a personal reference, but it is suggested you purchase more than one copy because you’ll probably lend to beginners seeking advice.

A must have book for anyone serious about getting their stories published. The information and guidance is clear and concise, providing points on how to prep not only your story but biography and cover letters etc. A worthwhile investment.
