I loved reading the book. It was thought provoking and made me think about my life and the people around me. The author developed the main character,Max Wiseman, who was brilliant, funny and very sad. Max had it all ,except happiness. It does not matter how much "stuff" you have , happiness comes within. I thought the author did a wonderful job developing the character, so that the readers new what max was thinking or what Max would say when he met someone one along his journey. The book is wonderful and I highly reccomend reading the story. job well done.

A friend recommended this book to me, and now I'm recommending it to everyone I know. I do a decent amount of reading, and I can't remember the last book that made me both laugh out loud and really think about some of the things (good and bad) that I've experienced during my life. The main character (Max Wiseman) takes you on an enjoyable and thought-provoking ride that you won't soon forget. On top of that, he refers (with quotes and even YouTube links) to many unforgettable characters and movies, including Back to the Future and The Shawshank Redemption!

One Last Thing To Do Before I Die was a very powerful read. It is a perceptive story about daily encounters and experiences that most people pass off as normal and acceptable, however are anything but that. The author confronts those encounters and experiences through the main character, Max Wiseman, and brings them to the attention of the reader through “fleshed out” characters and profound themes. The journey and story of Max is familiar, funny, bitter, sweet, memorable, creative and most of all, true to life. It is a story that everyone can relate to, a story that will make you ask yourself what you believe in, what is important to you and how you want to live your life. The underlying theme of the Golden Rule ties together politics, religion, ethics, family and more in a unique and creative way. I found One Last Thing To Do Before I Die to be laugh-out-loud funny while at the same time heartbreakingly true and perfectly in tune with the reality of the world we live in. I really... More > loved the details in this book, the descriptions of meals, chapter titles, nicknames that the main character gave to those he encountered, moments of reflection through Max’s eyes and so much more. The author’s amazing and clever writing style and smooth transitions from dialogue to Max’s thoughts, dreams and memories kept a great pace throughout the book. The story really took off from page 1 and just kept getting better. I couldn’t put it down and after I was done I found myself thinking of my own life, similar situations that I have found myself in as Max, and how the world would be a better place if more people lived by the same principles and the Golden Rule. This novel is extremely moving, a strong dose of reality and a must read!< Less
