This is a book which I can pick up and reread at different times, and I can continue to get enlightenment from. I did a quick read and then immediately wanted to go back and read each story individually and reflect on them individually as they might pertain in my life. They are stories that everyone can relate to. The stories are a reminder that the bible is a timeless volume. Those stories also stimulated me to go to my bible and reflect on the verses which are in tune with Steve Harsh's updated stories. I've recently had two friends who suffered the loss of their fathers. I sent this book to them in lieu of flowers which die out after a week. I felt this was more tangible, and might be a welcome gift to have lying around at any time in life to use and reflect upon.

In his book, "Building Peace from the Inside Out," Steve Harsh has put together a compilation of his peace-related stories and plays. The author is a master of the narrative form of writing and believes that people listen more and respond more to stories rather than to be lectured on the complexities of peace and faith. The author has been a minister, a teacher, and a life coach, and his experiences in these fields have helped him to write many short stories and plays to get his points across. His writings combine to make one think from other points of view and to relate their own lives to those of his characters. Steve Harsh utilizes an interesting writing tool involving Biblical characters using modern day vernacular in their narratives. His combination of modern day and Biblical short selections are fun to read when one has just a few minutes of free time. Taking time between stories allows the reader to reflect on the meaning of each selection. "Building Peace from... More > the Inside Out" is, as the author states, for those seeking peace and for those who are peacemakers. We are not indoctrinated on the meaning of peace and faith, but, instead, learn the essence of such states of being through the stories he tells.< Less

This is an enjoyable and rewarding book. It is an easy read with enjoyable stories. The stories have hidden meaning and after reading them, you will want to go back and study each story. I could relate to many of the situations, so the stories spoke to me and helped me to continue on my journey finding peace in my life.
