It has been claimed that tree rings can be looked at to get an idea of what growing conditions are for a location. With that idea, it would seem that trees from the same location should have similar tree rings. This book has pictures and a graphs of tree ring widths for comparison. Unfortunately for the belief that tree rings can do as claimed, the photos and graphs show that rings are individual for trees and not useful in trying to determine weather for a location or to match them to determine the date of a trees growth. On some occasions they can show trends a large sampling of trees is need for that such as the sampling of 26 South Lake Tahoe conifer trees compared by me.
