Mary Moorman Shot Abraham Zapruder Shooting President Kennedy Getting Shot

The language of the Kennedy assassination is a visual one, black-and-white photos, jumpy 1960’s film, full of mysterious shadows. The Mary Moorman photo (detail inside the cover) apparently can be resolved to show the gunman on the Grassy Knoll – though I couldn’t see it, I could see that Abraham Zapruder is in her shot, shooting his famous film of the murder. That’s the language I want to explore in these poems – circular, surreal at times, and (as in real life) never really clearing things up.
