Polk County was formed in 1855, from Rutherford and Henderson County. Polk County was never subdivided. Polk County’s southern boundary resides on the South Carolina line, and has a unique notch in the state line. Sadly, this collection is very small and was located in the miscellaneous county record box. Nevertheless, what was preserved by the county court are contained in this book. There is one folder which contains several law suits over grist mill dams (flooding). However, NO mill records were preserved for Polk. There are a few bridge records, which pertains to complaints over condition. NO bridge petitions, or bridge construction contracts or bonds were preserved.
