"Buy this book." Once again Stuart Slade has produced an excellent story. Set in the months after the attack on Germany that ended WW2 ('The Big One'), the story examines the effects this had had on the world. Events move from a bankrupt, shattered Britain, struggling to recover from German occupation and years of heavy American bombing, to Russia, where the surrender of the last German units is still to be taken, to Thailand, where there is the renewed threat of war. Perhaps AoN has a little less action in it than Slade's previous novel, 'The Big One', but there is plenty to keep the reader interested. Recommended, as is anything else by Stuart Slade.

"Sequel to The Big One" WW-II has ended with the nuclear destruction of Germany in 1947, but the land war continues on the Russian Front. Nations must decide how to realign their priorities to the new Postwar World. Sweeping from the grand (How does our country defend itself under the new way of things) to the sublime (how does a young female officer cadet move a two ton block of concrete with seven fellow cadets and a six pack of beer), Stuart Slade’s work shows a deep understanding of How Things Work, while maintaining a sense of personality and readability. Great characters. Great story lines. A definite recommended read.
