There are many among my generation who have not necessarily grown up on a diet of Bengali poems or literature in general, but irrespective of the age, class and sex we all seem to have imbibed a bit of the magic of poetry in us. I speak from my own experience when I say Rabindranath Tagore inspired much of the poet in me, but being more familiar with English as a language my search for Bangla poetry in English and even English poetry written for the Indian psyche were on.. 'Ichhe Holo Tai' is a collection of works by four contemporary poets, who look at the world through different prisms and come up with interesting outcomes; some light, some dark, and many shades in between. Blues are a favourite hue, as are auburns and rose, examining a present in all its detail, while preserving acres of the past and a future true blue. Simple, yet complex, rich & bizarre, the words transport one into a realm where fantasy & reality meet. Anything could happen, maybe anything will....
