Inside . . . Out is one of my go-to books when I'm brainstorming a novel. I keep it nearby and refer to it often and recommend it to other writers. Susan May Warren has developed a wonderful technique for creating multi-dimensional characters. I also appreciate Susie uses examples throughout the book to help you grasp the lessons.
So helpful. So understandable. So perfect for both beginners and veteran writers. This workbook helps you ground your story, develop your characters and build a powerful plot...it's hand-on and step-by-step. And the teaching will stick with you for future stories, too. Highly recommend!
Susan May Warren shines in this book on crafting fiction, using her wit and clear voice to help the reader along in learning the underlying structure and principles that make up a good story / novel. I highly recommend Inside...Out and her follow-up book, Deep and Wide, for the excellent and easy-to-understand and apply examples and breadth of instruction on novel-crafting. This is a must-have book on writing for every novelist pursuing their best work.
